The Aim2Run262 programme has been specifically designed to help the first time marathon
runner overcome the many barriers they will face when embarking on marathon training.
Who is it aimed at?
This programme has been tailored to accommodate a group or team - most likely a corporate
team who want to raise money for a charity, or else want to test themselves against
their competition, their colleagues and of course themselves. Alternatively it will
work just as well with any group of individuals (3-10) who have come together to
tackle the challenge of 26.2 miles.
The reason we say a group is because an additional benefit of this mental skills
approach, and of course the physical training; is the team building element and the
added return on investment that will bring once the marathon has been accomplished
and you begin looking for your next adventure.
How does it work?
The programme incorporates a series of six x 1 hour workshops which will be delivered
by an experienced AIM consultant. They will be spread throughout the duration of
your marathon training (by agreement)and outlines can be viewed above.
The workshops will be carried out at the client’s workplace or else at an agreed venue - they will not involve any running and are separate to any physical training taking place.
Why are mental skills important in marathon running?
It is said a marathon is in two halves - the first 20 miles and then the second half! Physical strength and endurance alone are not enough to to propel you across the finish line; or even see you successfully complete your training. Which is why our focus is on equipping you with the understanding of what you are about to undertake, what you will face and what you can do to stop that inner voice of doubt from wrecking your hard work.
Is it fun?
Unlike some of your physical training, the mental skills workshops are designed primarily to ensure you build and maintain your enthusiasm for the task at hand - and that you remember to smile when you cross the finish line.
